Definitely do not meet up....
Nowadays, things are very different than the innocent "Hey, we're just stopping by"..... etc.
I had a friend that was asked to go to a "meeting" that she thought was one of 'upbuilding,' she cried, and the next thing you knew she was "marked".... She had no clue, until the announcement!
After that bit of insanity (elders with an ego can do and say anything they very well like) she thought, "Hell no, I won't go.... ever again!" I agree!
Never, and I mean never, meet with them... You have no control. They are a law to themselves. They do not deserve any information from you, so you SHOULD 'play along' / mislead with their "stupicratic warfare" / do anything to get them off your back. "I have a cold" "I am anxious, I couldn't sleep" "I changed my mind" or just plain old "don't go." Don't show up... People miss doctor's appointments that took them months to get, they miss job interviews, they miss dinner dates. What is so bad about "missing a meeting"?
If they do show up, and ask 'why?", just stare them in the face and don't answer them... Raise your eyebrows, shrug your shoulders, say, "Hmmm?" and walk away.
Don't go... your life will be more and more complicated, and why?

Just Want To Be Heard
by dubstepped ini've been lurking here for a while now, and i guess you could call me a fader.
i don't have hate in my heart for the organization that i spent most of my life in, but i have had an awakening.
luckily, so has my wife, and that way i don't feel so alone.

Yay! you made it! You "awoke", and so did your wife ;-)
That is awesome! Writing is a great way to sort things out, I like your opening words, I think we can ALL ID with that:
"Haunted
By the things I was told
That I'd never grow up, never grow old".
Next step? Start really living and enjoying life!
Welcome ;-)

Governing Body Member Stephan Lett Lies On JW.TV
by Finkelstein ini thought it would be important to clearly point in the recent talk by governing body member stephan lett, that he did in fact deliberately lie concerning what he described as lies and false information by apostates, concerning the organization being permissive toward people in the organization who had been involved in pedophilia.
the truth of the matter is thats exactly what the organization has been doing and perhaps for a long time.
the recent candace conti law suit where she was awarded 28 million dollars was levied against the wts for its irresponsible behavior by the elders who gave no notification of the accused jonathan kendrick that he had been charged with pedophilia and spent months in jail for his actions .

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

Welcome, so nice to hear that you made it out Russ... No more depression, awesome! Your daughter? I think that with a little nightly storybook fiction she may turn out like my boys... Creative, artistic, independent thinkers... Pick up a fun book at the library, have her go with you, and read a chapter a night... Spend time drawing, singing, developing the relationship that should exist between kids and dads and moms.... (something you don't usually find in JWs, sadly, they are too busy) Let her see the bright, explorative side of you, sing your heart out and enjoy life with her, and then???? maybe your wife will join in! Welcome! -

After reading Reveal's story on the web, we had someone from 40 years ago call us She was so excited to see all of the details being made available. This causes chagrin to the WT's "keep it secret" policies.
We were told of her leaving in 2003 over the Dateline news show about abuses. She had done her own investigating, and couldn't live with the hypocrisy, wrote emails to all in her congregation disassociating herself. We hope all in the ex-witness community will be encouraged by this, that they are not alone in how they feel about the WT.
Many have responded favorably to this great news of "Secrets" that have been "Revealed". Thanks Trey Bundy, Delaney Hall, & all of you at CIR, for the GREAT job & hard work you put into this story!
